Est-ce "l'effet Sting" qui nous vaut cette collection DGG ? Que les puristes du son ne s'inquiètent pas: la technique a fait son miracle et les enregistrements des années 1960-1970 sont égalisés au niveau des plus récents. Par contre, l'esthétique instrumentale et la conception de l'interprétation sont, eux, bien d'époque. Ceci permet une intéressante confrontation entre ce qui faisait référence hier et les attentes d'aujourd'hui.
Les pièces pour luth sont interprétées sur une guitare à onze cordes.
