Formé en 1987 par le saxophoniste ROY NATHANSON et le tromboniste CURTIS FOWLKES. THE JAZZ PASSENGERS est plutôt un collectif qui a vu collaborer des musiciens assez divers, adeptes d'un style post-bop, pour un projet ou sur la durée. On peut citer parmi eux MARC RIBOT, John Lurie et même des stars venues du rock tels: Jeff Buckley, Freedy Johnston, Mavis Staples, Elvis Costello ou la chanteuse de Blondie, DEBORAH HARRY, sur "In Love" en 1994 [UJ3318], "Individually Twisted" en 1997 [UJ3319]. Cette dernière reprend à nouveau du service en 2010 sur "Reunited".
