"For his 4th CD, YOSHIO MACHIDA presents his first-ever set of "acoustic" improvisations using Steel Pans with no electronic processing. The music on this album is unlike fugue, gamelan or Tintinnabulation proposed by Arvo Part. It features over-dubbed minimal improvised phrases that create unique random delay like effects, somewhat reminiscent of wind bell sounds. And there is a piece inspired by the milestone of Minimalism, Erik Satie's Vexations, and also a strangely wonderful drone piece created solely from Steel Pan rolls. Like his previous album, the theme of the album is flowers, and the clear sounds of the Steel Pan are sure to treat you with an ambient, meditative and relaxing listening experience." www.lowlands.be
