La soprano allemande Dorothee Mields nous offre ici un superbe enregistrement donnant vie à l'oeuvre d'Henry Purcell. Le programme de ce récital à la fois bien accompagné et bien choisi, mêle des airs d'opéras (superbe lamento de Didon) et de semi-opéras, parfois peu connus (Sophonisba, vous connaissez ?) à des catches (Purcell savait aussi s'amuser) et à des pièces instrumentales (fantaisies, par exemple). De plus apparaissent quelques contemporains de Purcell comme Robert Johnson ou Matthew Locke ainsi que des rengaines populaires au 17ème siècle (ah, les fameuses trois corneilles !) Tout cela s'enchaine sans rupture de ton ni précipitation en variant les climats et les affects avec un bonheur infini. J'aime ! AG
