"A recording of a live show, Lisbon marks the continuation of themes Whitman initially explored on his unbeatable drone-classic Playthroughs'. Furthering the development of the Playthroughs system (a Max/MSP patch) this sees Whitman in much messier territory than the clinically clean works witnessed on the original album. At this point I must confess I am a huge fan of Whitman and have tried to grab hold of most work he puts his name to, and he rarely lets me down; this newest cd is no exception. Basically a 40 minute experiment, what truly stands out about Lisbon is the organic development of the music, it starts so quietly, so slowly, but rapidly grows as the track develops."
