Trois ans après KING OF THE BEACH (XW260L) album plutôt réussi, au carrefour du surf rock et du punk, Nathan Williams (Chant, Guitare) et son acolyte Stephen Pope (basse) sortent un album fortement influencé par le rock "grunge" et indie des années 1990. A l'écoute de AFRAID OF HEIGHTS on pense à leurs amis de Best Coast et de Beach House même si le son de Wavves est plus rêche et désinvolte. Un album adolescent parfait pour "cruiser" en skate sur Venice Beach. I.K.
